I originally designed this lesson to be used after watching the episode "Convergence"of the CBS television series Numb3rs. I think every middle/HS teacher should own copies of this series. Social Issue Project: Dangerous Dolls?

During this project, students will measure themselves, measure action figures/dolls, and scale up the doll proportionally to life size, based on their height. Then, they will trace themselves on a large piece of butcher block paper. On that same paper, they will sketch out the life-sized doll proportions and create a body outline of what the doll would look like if it were their same height. They should finish with something that looks terribly disproportionate. From there, you can have a debate

Let's Celebrate Pi Day! 3.14

This is a full lesson to celebrate Pi in Math! The lesson includes the lesson plan with CCSS and objective, photo of the activity being performed, direction sheet with chart to fill in for students, and a question sheet for closure. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th, for 3-14. The students have fun proving Pi for circles.
