Super Fun and Awesome Proof Practice - Basic Geometry - Proofs

I created these study guide to help my students with introductory proofs. There never seems to be enough practice with proofs in the textbooks. It was designed to repeat some of the same theorems and postulates over and over again but in different problems. A complete answer key is included. *Note: Certain problems could be done multiple ways. My answers generally include the shortest complete method. The proofs include the following basic concepts: Definitions -Complementary, Supplmentary

Geometry: Introductory Proofs about Angles formed by Transveral

Are you introducing proofs for the first time? Are your students struggling with the concept of a proof? I have found that there are very few remediation worksheets on proofs and sometimes it is necessary to go slow until all students get the hang of proofs. It can be frustrating when the textbooks only include one or two examples. I created this very straightforward study guide for beginner proofs on the the common angles formed by 2 parallel lines cut by a transversal line. This particular s

This sheet shows the "Key Rules" to common transformations; reflections over the x-axis, reflection over the y-axis, reflections over the line y = x and y = -x, translation, rotation of 90 degrees with a center at the origin rotation of 180 degrees with a center at the origin, rotation of 90 degrees clockwise with a center at the origin, and dilation with a center at the origin and dilations with a center not at the origin. This sheet shows pictures of each transformation and describes how their

Geometry Test : Congruent Triangle Proofs

This test was created to assess students knowledge of geometric proofs for all chapters up to the triangle congruence chapter. Proofs on this test include the following concepts: SSS, ASA, SAS, AAS, HL, CPCTC Students must have a background knowledge on proofs and other geometric concepts before taking this test. You could also use this test as a study guide if you prefer. An answer key is included. All teachers seem to approach proofs differently so your answers may vary. I tried to gi

Geometry- Introduction to Proofs - Basic Proof Practice

Introducing students to geometric proofs in a geometry class can be a difficult task for both teachers and students. I created this introductory lesson to help get my students' brains in gear. After teaching the first few introductory chapters the kids should have some understanding of basic definitions, postulates and theorems. This worksheet will help them "squeeze" as much information as possible from "givens" in formal proofs. Since I started using this paper and other similar worksheets

This sheet shows the "Key Rules" to common angle relationships; alternate interior, alternate exterior, corresponding, vertical, adjacent, supplementary and complementary. This sheet shows pictures of each relationship and describes how their measures are related. I pass this out to my students at the end of the geometry chapter to help them study.

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.
