This Reader's Theater Script is easy to follow and is based off of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". This is written at a level that 4th, 5th, and 6th graders can enjoy. There are plenty of Tier 2 vocabulary terms to build a unit from. Words I chose to focus on for the week unit were region, reeling, hospitality, lanky, and cordially. This rap teaches about saying no to drugs. It was used at Red Ribbon Week for an assembly. This is a rap with audience participation. You need to create a beat with it. There are only a few speaking parts, but it is short and fun for the participants. The child asks the questions, the teacher answers the questions and the punks try to get the child to take drugs. Elementary students can perform it or high school students can perform it for the younger grades.
