Description
Math With Acting is a FUN way to introduce Real World Math problems
to students. It can be used to teach or reinforce mathematical concepts.
Math With Acting lends itself to differentiated instruction and
cooperative learning. It encourages active participation and is highly
interactive.
This episode focuses on finding the cost of taxes for certain purchases based on the tax rates. Students take on various roles, acting out a real world type scenario where a machine manufacturing company must purchase replacement parts for some machines. The company has to look at the prices of parts and the tax cost to purchase the parts, based on whichever country they order the parts from. Once they add the cost of parts and the tax cost, they can determine which country offers the best deal.
Other students follow along and can track their calculations on an included chart/worksheet.. There are several extra problems for the students to solve, which they can work on individually or in groups.
An Answer Key is included.
