Compare World Religions Chart --Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism
This is a chart I use with my students to compare five major world religions-- Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. It is meant to have the students learn the basics and be able to know the major aspects of all the religions. I included a blank copy and a completed version. In my social studies textbooks, there is quite a bit of info about each of these religions. This can also be done this as a group jigsaw activity. Feel free to edit it to suits your needs. Elf in the Classroom Arrival Letter - No mention of Christmas or Santa!
I was on the hunt for a letter to have my Elf bring with him when he makes his debut in my classroom next week, but wanted one that didn't specifically mention Santa or Christmas. No luck so I wrote my own poem telling a little about the Elf and reminding the students to be on their best behavior this holiday season.
Attached is the letter in the .doc file so you can replace any of the text that you choose. The elf's name in the letter is Tinsel, but you can edit as you choose.

Family Tree and History - Culture Activity.
One of my favorite and most worthwhile activities!
Wonderful document for recording family facts and memories. This is a culture assignment that will be treasured for who knows how long. I hand out as extra credit, but I strongly encourage their use... where else will this information ever be captured? Students just ask questions of parents and grandparents. Even better, have them video the conversation.

Google Earth Scavenger Hunt
This is a fairly straightforward Scavenger Hunt to use with Google Earth. Students simply type in the coordinates and record their findings. This is a fun thing to do if a student is done with their work early or for a fun Friday activity. This usually takes students about 30 mins to complete. Now comes with key!
