English riddles planning year 2
This is a 2 week unit of work on riddles based around fruit. Each lesson is matched to the new curriculum and there is an overall objective sheet at the end to show what has been covered in the unit which is colour coded. The children loved thinking about different fruits and making up their own riddles in this unit of work and I got great pieces of writing out of them.

Poetic Device Scavenger Hunt
Distribute some poems and have students identify and highlight poetic devices like similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and imagery. Discuss what these are and the overall impact on the reader's experience.
Poetry Analysis Jigsaw
Divide students into small groups, assigning each group a different poem. Have each group analyze the assigned poem's themes, tone, and literary devices, and present their findings to the class.
