Progression in skills document which covers all the physics based units and objectives across primary school. Everything is set out so the whole school can use it for planning, assessing or tracking progress in Science in a simple format. These plans are intended to support schools who teach cross-curricular as opposed to using the old QCA science units. The QCA Science schemes of work are referenced so that schools moving to a cross-curricular approach can see where each objective fits in to

8th Grade NM EOC Blueprint Science Standards put into "I can" statements

New 8th Grade EOC Blueprints came out in August of 2017. I have taken that document and created an easy to use spreadsheet with all the standards (labeled with benchmarks) and put into "I can" statements. Both teachers and students can use these as a checklist. I will have my students paste them into their notebooks and check them off as we complete each standard. This document can also be used as a pacing guide.

Olympics Physics Activity based on Michael Phelps

Created by
Lindsey McKeen
This activity or project is a follow up to watching a Michael Phelps Race to enage students with a real world physics problem. This activity uses calculations to determine average speed, analyze data from different races, predict and calculate his performance in the individual medley, and compare predicted to actual results. My students found this a much more interesting problem than the typical rolling a car or ball down a ramp. I hope you will find it useful in your class!

MOMENTUM LEARNING MODULE

Momentum is an easy concept for students to grasp. Momentum is “mass in motion.” Inertia is a related concept (the resistance an object has to a change in its state of motion), but they differ in the fact that still objects have inertia (because an object at rest tends to stay at rest), but only moving objects have momentum. This lesson uses the concepts of linear momentum to help the students analyze the behavior of moving objects.

This lesson plan is written using the 5E model by which a teacher can take a lesson on 'Forms of Energy' for ICSE board very systematically in 5 steps- Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate. The teacher can 'Engage' students by showing a video on Kinetic and Potential energy. Also, there is an attached summative assessment worksheet provided with this lesson plan, which will help the teacher gauge his or her teaching effectiveness and students understanding.Enjoy teaching !!
