Do you know what affixes your 5th grade students need to learn according to the Common Core? This list is divided into trimesters and each trimester has 20 affixes. The expectation is for my students to master 60 affixes by the end of the year.

oxford sight words sorted into sounds supporting jolly phonics
Our school, along side a speech pathologist, have sorted the oxford sight words into sounds which support the jolly phonics program. There are 7 phases of words that can be sounded out and follow the introduction of sounds jolly phonics uses. There are 100 tricky words which can not be sounded out and follow different 'rule' patterns. I have also made flash cards in these colour sets which you can purchase from my store.

Boss of the Plains Vocabulary Quiz
Here is an original vocabulary quiz for the story 'Boss of the Plains' that utilizes all of the words from that story's abbreviated version in the book.
The quiz includes a matching section between the words and the definitions (as written in the text.) The other section is a sentence writing section, which allows the students to create their own sentence for the story.

My Side of the Mountain - Vocabulary List
A list of vocabulary words that correspond with the "My Side of the Mountain" Literature Unit and Vocabulary Activities.
List provides 10 words for every 2 chapters up to chapter 12. Afterwards, the Vocabulary Activities ask students to choose their own words to increase student interest and confidence as well as to give students practice in "fix-up" reading comprehension strategies.

ELA CCSS Glossary
The document contains all the academic vocabulary you will need to teach your English Language Arts class. It contains a plethora of grammar terminology, literary elements, figurative language, poetry devices, etc. I use these in my classroom each day. I've printed them out and spiral bound them. Whenever something comes up in our reading or we all need a common definition for something, we turn to these. This document will be editable too, so you can add anything that you see fit.

30 Weeks of 4th grade Spelling Lists, plus one bonus week.
This is a created Spelling Program of 10 words each week. The focus of the lists are a prefix, suffix, or root per week, a critical verb from Merilee Sprenger's list of words students must know for Common Core, as well as a spelling pattern. There are strategy tips on each spelling list for students to use for studying. The lists are small enough for students to cut and copy into a spelling notebook and/or take the other list home to study.
