Opinion Writing Rubric_Common Core
This opinion writing rubric incorporates 2nd Grade Common Core Standards. It asses the student's ability to write an introduction (opening) and a conclusion, to use linking words and to provide valid reasons that support the stated opinion. At the bottom of the rubric, the students evaluate their own writing by giving themselves a grade and by providing reasons that support their grade. This is an editable document.

This rubric is aligned with the College and Career Readiness/ Common Core State Standards-- specifically for 7th grade writing. This is not a fast-paced grading rubric; instead, it should follow deep-level instruction in each of the areas it assesses. Feel free to shorten it to your liking, as some students may not find the information as accessible as others. Two of my classes used a less detailed rubric instead.

Fraction Word Problem Project
This project is a wonderful review of standards 5.NF.7c and 5.NF.6 that allows students to solve real world problems with fractions. In this project, students will select a recipe from a “recipe book” and adjust it to serve a given number of people.
