This is a basic step by step guide for teachers and students to learn how to read, and sing using solfege.
I created this smart board plan for teaching solfege because nothing else was jiving for my classes.
I teach 4th and 5th grade music classes using this and they catch on fast!

America the Beautiful Song Lyrics
This eleven slide Smartboard file teaches students the first verse of the song America the Beautiful by Katharine Lee Bates . Each slide has one line of the lyrics with a picture. Activities include a) random image selection with multiple choice responses. This Mother Goose rhyme is a very fun way to teach many different concepts all wrapped up into one song! This rhyme covers many concepts like sixteenth notes (tika tika), form (ABA or Rondo), and composition practice using the names of various trees!
I used the original Mother Goose rhyme, as well as Carl Orff's "Music for Children" as inspiration for this lesson.
