Electricity expository writing activity lesson
Students will recognize electrical items that they use everyday. They will differentiate between electrical items that are of more importance than others (needs and wants). Teacher guided whole group will write a paragraph together. Students will see great example and poor example, and then students will write independently.

Building Bridges, Building with a Variety of Materials
This is a Notebook lesson consisting of approx. 36 slides. It contains short student notes on five different types of bridges, beam, truss, arch, cantilever, and suspension. For all but the cantilever bridge there are challenges for the students which consist of four projects using materials like spaghetti, marshmallows, toothpicks, sugar cubes, string and paper. Classifying Buttons
Young children can practice classification skills. I use this activity after a group discussion about sorting, and different ways to sort. We do the notebook lesson as a group and children readily see that there are different ways to classify the buttons, by focusing on different properties of the buttons. The worksheet follows. I give each student a little bag with eight buttons to work with.
