Description

This is a Notebook lesson consisting of approx. 36 slides. It contains short student notes on five different types of bridges, beam, truss, arch, cantilever, and suspension. For all but the cantilever bridge there are challenges for the students which consist of four projects using materials like spaghetti, marshmallows, toothpicks, sugar cubes, string and paper. The final challenge uses popsicle sticks and glue. Students can use anyone of the types of bridges and try to design the strongest bridge. You can decide how many sticks the students can use. There is a short multiple choice quiz, one question is rather specific to our playground but can be changed. It also has the Alberta science curriculum outcomes covered but these can also be adapted as well. There are four short lessons which can be used before the actual notebook lessons begin. The slides include photographs and pictures. This can be used for approx fifteen class lessons and can be added to if so desired. Teacher's notes are also included in the slides. I downloaded my beta version by mistake. This new version has links to all photos, etc for copyright purposes.
