Genetic Counselor Fictional Case Study: Monster Mayhem: Story based/ PBL

Hello!I designed this as a project to follow in my unit after dihybrid crosses. This "review" project includes topics of Punnett squares, Mendelian genetics, Dihybrid crosses, genetic probability, incomplete dominance, and recessive and dominant genes. This is designed as a "case-study" where the student is in the role of the genetic counselor. The student must analyze information about the monster's genetics (provided in the file) to draw answers for the couple in genetic-counseling. Every prob

Conservation of Energy in a Rotating Rotor Lab (AP Level Rotational Motion)

In this investigation on rotational motion students will measure the time of fall of a hook mass that spins a PVC "T" rotor with weighted arms. This is very similar to an often-used lab in physics AP 1, where a falling mass spins a PVC rotor with weights in the arms. Students will use linear and rotational velocity measurements to calculate the center of mass (from moment of inertia) of one of the rotor's arms. I do not use this in first-year physics. This is an AP-level investigation.Materi

Students will need to create a model to explain a puzzling phenomena about objects on earth and gravitational pull. This is an excellent formative assessment to use at the end of the Forces and Motion! It will allow them to create an animation that will discuss force diagrams, Newton's Laws, and you can ask students to discuss acceleration and speed for the higher grades. The assessment includes a rubric that can be easily modified for different grades or levels of students in the classroom.

Micro:bit light meter data collector for science projects

The goal of the project is to create a light meter to register light values from two different sources at a time. The meter allows us to quantify the brightness of a source. These sources can include a candle, flashlight, LED, incandescent bulb, and fluorescent lights. Sources are not limited to objects. Sources can include locations like a classroom, the outside, a library, or a cafeteria. I have provided Google Documents with tables of several objects and location ideas. Use the link below to
