This lesson uses the conflicting texts "Ban the Ban! Soda's a Problem but..." and "Three Cheers for the Nanny State". Students will read the texts and engage in a creative problem solving discussion in which they identify the central ideas or problems that the author's identify. They then analyze the solutions to those problems and evaluate which solutions will be the most effective. The culminating assignment is an argumentative writing assignment.
