5 Minutes Left and What Can I Do? : 100 Fun and Challenging Puzzles
Thank you for visiting this page! After 30+ years of teaching, these are my absolute favorite classroom-tested time fillers. Every teacher needs to have something ready when a planned lesson ends earlier than anticipated or the kids just need a break at the end of the period.
Some puzzles I have used over the years just do not work well; these all do. What they have in common is that they are challenging, engaging to all students, and effective problem-solving/critical thinking activities.

This is a handout for a team-building challenge. I used this with staff members and gave only the hand-out and the bag full of supplies. This is one of my non-content escape rooms. Students will need to mainly use logical thinking to solve the puzzles. Students should be divided into teams of 3-4 to complete it in a group. Independent Living - What Would You Do?
This is a small unit I put together on independent living. You can do the lesson from the list, or print and cut the cards.
In our morning groups, 2x a week, we do 5 cards (5 min on each card). I tell the kids to imagine they living in their own apartment or house (depending on the card).
