I have typed up the lyrics to 3 of the history songs (No More Kings, Shot Heard Round the World and the Preamble) but have removed certain words. My students watch the video once and then fill in the lyrics as we listen a second (and sometimes third) time to the song. I wanted a way for them to interact with the video and get the songs stuck in their heads! It is great as the start to a unit and as a fun wrap up.If you would like all 11 America Rock songs including I'm Just a Bill and Sufferi

This is really interesting and really fun. First students read about the famous Battle of New Orleans, but then learn that it never needed to happen -- the war was already over! After they answer a few questions, they listen to a fun and quirky song which helped re-popularize the battle in the 20th century. I included the lyrics and directions for playing the song. As a final activity which is a lot of fun to do in groups and to share with the class, they write new stanzas for the song that inco

Songs of the Enlightenment! Which Enlightenment Philosopher would sing it?

Students listen to songs be modern artists from Youtube, and try to figure out which philosopher's message goes along with the song! Very fun, good way to incorporate music into the classroom and to change things up! Each philosopher can only be used once, but students can build their case with enough evidence to support their choice. Some artists are easy, others are more on the line.
