Description

This is the perfect activity for the hands-on history class ready to flex their creative muscles. Students will see (and hopefully hear) a parody of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" and Bruno Mar's "When I Was Your Man". The first parody is about Henry VIII describing all of his problems with his six wives. The second parody is about a remorseful King George III singing about the loss of the 13 Colonies. This project works best for the teacher willing to sing the parodies, not just read them. Students will then create their own parody of a popular song, rewriting it with facts about an historical figure that they have studied in class. My students always really enjoy this activity. They will be much more likely to sing their parodies if the teacher sings a parody too!
