Have your students ever asked "Where am I ever gonna use this in real life?". Well, they'll be able to answer that questions after doing this assignment. In this assignment, students will research the math topic in depth including the mathematician who discovered it, where it is used in real life and how. This is a great project for the end of the year! Students are required to research a famous mathematician (they can choose one not listed as well) and create a research paper using the guidelines within the project. I realized that my students knew very little about the mathematicians behind the math they were learning and I decided to give them an opportunity to gain some background knowledge. I went to Wikipedia to create brief bios for 24 influential mathematicians and then turned that information into a game of bingo.
