T.D.A. Writing Rubric
This goes hand-in-hand with the R.A.C.E.S. strategy.
When my students complete an essay, I use this rubric so that they are aware of areas they need to work on. This is adapted from the SC READY Rubric, which is simply the TEXT DEPENDENT ANALYSIS RUBRIC used in various states.
The rubric is editable so you can make changes as you teach different strategies!

About Me Pennant
Students will create a pennant to advertise themselves like universities and athletic programs. An essay will be written about the pennant. This is a great project to use at the beginning of the year. A 1-4 grading scale is used. I have the students create the pennant on the first day then complete a timed write the second day.
