Argument and Counterargument Matching Game

I used this game when teaching argument and counterargument with my 5th graders. I cut the strips of paper up (could glue them onto construction paper to make them more sturdy) and distributed them to the class. They had to walk around the room and find their match. When the game ended, students lined up with their match and I called on a few students to share out whether their card was the argument/counterargument. Students had to justify their answers. You can reshuffle cards and play again

I use them before writing to generate ideas and refresh students memories of what figurative language is and how we can use.
