This is a fun lesson that takes between 90-120 minutes. I have 45 minute periods and with my 6th graders in a class of 24, we were able to gather all of our data and have 10 minutes to spare. Students are given a number line to put together and about 30 integers to place on it. This activity is to see students prior knowledge. Before any gluing takes place have a quick discussion and monitor student work to make sure all integers are in their correct location.
Afterwards, I had students like at least 4 things they noticed about the numbers on the number line.
