I have over 25 years of teaching experience so far and have taught students from grades K-8 in some capacity. As a classroom teacher, I have taught mostly third graders, often creating thematic arts integrated curriculum to meet their needs as well as cover required curriculum. I have also taught drama through my after school program to students from Pre-K to 8th grade. I love planning and creating resources and experiences for children that make them love learning.
One of my favorite quotes is “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be ignited.” ~ Plutarch. I have taken that quote to heart and it has resulted in a motivating, challenging, and highly effective learning environment. I think kids should love coming to school each day. That is how I try to teach and what I keep in mind when I create teaching resources. My goal is to create high-quality products that make arts integration easy for elementary classroom teachers or the elementary music teacher to implement. My shows and plays can be used by one class or can be used by a whole grade level or multiple collaborating grade levels. Performance is so memorable for children! When it can be incorporated meaningfully into the curriculum and instruction, children will remember it for many years.
