Description

If you are a fan of the original Wizard of Oz and it’s wonderful music… then this is the show for you! This performance utilizes almost the entire movie soundtrack in a simplified play that is suitable to be performed by elementary students.

This performance package can be used by an elementary classroom teacher, a music teacher, a summer camp coordinator, or a drama program instructor.

This show could be performed by anywhere from 25 to 100+ students depending on stage size. The length of the performance is approximately 40 minutes. I recommend using a combination of pre-recorded audio (that you record of your own students) and live performance. However, the “11 audio clips” could easily be performed live!

This show was originally performed by 60 students in my drama program (K through 5th). I divided them into 3 class groups of 20 students. However this show could easily be performed by less or more students depending on your class/classes and your stage.

Some grouping options are:

One class (25 students) split into 3 cast groups

Three classes each taking a cast group

Six classes with two classes in each cast group

Cast Groups:

1. Munchkin group - includes one student dressed as Dorothy #1 and one student as Glenda The Good Witch

2. Emerald City group - Green costumes, includes students dressed as Scarecrow, Tinman, Lion, and Dorothy #2

3. Flying Monkey group - Flying monkey costumes, includes one student dressed as the Wicked Witch of the West
