January Calendar & Morning Meeting Routines for Smartboard
My morning meeting continues to be an integral part of the day. We spend time on ELA and math skills during this time. The children really enjoy the interactive slides. I have some great new winter themes this month.

Motivation Mini-Lesson
The Motivation Mini-Lesson is one for teachers to use while winding up or down the school, and even in the middle when motivation and effort seem to hard to find in our students. This lesson can be adapted for certain areas of character education or by content area. Attendance Icons for September-June and some fun extras (ex. picture day, beach day, anti bullying week, etc.). Students slide their icon into the center to show that they are "here" that day. Teachers can visually see at a glance who is absent.

Soccer morning attendance SMARTboard
I use this soccer-attendance for the kids in the morning. When they arrive at school they put the ball with their name on in the goal. When everyone has arrived, all the balls are inside the goal. Often I also take the time on the students. How many minutes does it take until we are ready to start?
You can also use this for other things. As an example the kids can score goals when they have completed certain tasks like reading or writing.
