What Students DoIn this activity, students apply their knowledge of scale, scale factor, and computer aided design to create a 3D scale model of the solar system with Tinkercad. Students compare and contrast the size of the planets. They discuss the relative size of the planets and the Sun to Earth.

Sunset Journal: Observing the Motion and Location of the Sun
What Students DoOver several weeks students keep a sunset journal. Students make observations of the Sun at sunset from a location in their neighborhood.They draw a view of the horizon. Weekly they add the position of the Sun at sunset for each observation. They label the time and date of each observation. At the conclusion of their observations, students interpret the results of their work.
