Principles of Design: Exploring Several Principles with Paper Shapes
This lesson invites students to compose an abstract design using flat, 2D, recognizable shapes that effectively demonstrate each and all the principles of design; balance, movement, rhythm, unity, variety, and so on.
Several elements are not incorporated, as this unit relies more on using a limited variety of shapes and limited use of colour, for the sake of unity.
You will be amazed at the level of creativity, however, because there is no precedent or expected outcome. It is totally random.
