Introduction to black history month
This flipchart is one I use to introduce the concept/idea of black history month to my students. It begins with a song about Martin Luther King, then has picture examples of the words past and present to help my kids understand what we mean when we say the "past". Then there are pages of examples of black athletes, musicians, actors, etc. At the end there is a video "black history alphabet" I hope this simplified way of introducing black history helps your class as much as it helped mine.

Quilts of the Heart Craft Activity for ActivBoard
Every year during the winter my students and I love to make paper quilts. There is so much American history in the topic of quilting. This activity is fun for students of any age as they create quilt blocks from a template. This ActivBoard activity is linked to literature, math and social studies. This is an ActivInspire weekly weather chart for use on the Promethean Board from Praising PreK. Fractions of an Inch Promethean ActivInspire Flipchart Lesson
This flipchart covers the common core state standard 3.MD.B4. This flipchart begins with the explanation of a ruler, how it's divided into parts, and gives lots of student interaction time to come up to the board and interact with the lesson.
