Introduction to black history month
This flipchart is one I use to introduce the concept/idea of black history month to my students. It begins with a song about Martin Luther King, then has picture examples of the words past and present to help my kids understand what we mean when we say the "past". Then there are pages of examples of black athletes, musicians, actors, etc. At the end there is a video "black history alphabet" I hope this simplified way of introducing black history helps your class as much as it helped mine.

Ruby Bridges Biography Flipchart- Black History Month
This is a flipchart I created to use on my Promethean Board. I used it during my Ruby Bridges unit. I created it to along with Black History Month which is in February.

Past Present Future
Flipchart with images to help students understand and discuss changes over time. You can also change the order of the slides and have students drag them to put them in the correct order. Quilts of the Heart Craft Activity for ActivBoard
Every year during the winter my students and I love to make paper quilts. There is so much American history in the topic of quilting. This activity is fun for students of any age as they create quilt blocks from a template. This ActivBoard activity is linked to literature, math and social studies. Common Core Standards for 3rd grade are included along with step by step instructions and examples. Finally there in an interactive page where students can create their own quilt block.

African Heritage-MArtin Luther King Flipchart
I created this 8 page ActivInspire Flip chart to teach my special needs kinder class about important people who have made a difference. Focusing on Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and Ruby Bridges, students will have the opportunity to learn about each person and how they fought to make a difference. The goal is for students to be able to label each person with the correct name by matching and to colour using appropriate skin tones.

Chinese vocabulary flipchart: colors, clothing, facial features
This flipchart has students use a "magic bubble" to reveal hidden answers underneath a box. Students also draw a line from the Chinese characters to the matching picture. There is also a page with "Da feng chui..." (Big wind blows) starter ideas, and a page with a face to describe facial features. Vocabulary follows Discovering Chinese, unit 5 (lessons 13-15).

1 page each of Chinese vocabulary with matching English translations are provided for the first unit of Discovering Chinese (lesson 1-3). Students can drag the English words to the matching Chinese characters. There is also a page with pictures that reveal the Chinese words once they are clicked.
