Clothes - Sorting by Color, Type, and Size

Introduction to black history month
This flipchart is one I use to introduce the concept/idea of black history month to my students. It begins with a song about Martin Luther King, then has picture examples of the words past and present to help my kids understand what we mean when we say the "past". Then there are pages of examples of black athletes, musicians, actors, etc. At the end there is a video "black history alphabet" I hope this simplified way of introducing black history helps your class as much as it helped mine.

Henna Designed Monochromatic / Value Paintings-FLIPCHART
This is a two part lesson. The first part looks at the culture/traditions behind henna designs. Students then design their own henna design on their traced hand. Next, the students create a monochromatic background by outlining the hand in concentric lines, showing a value scale through tints, pure color, and shades.

Quilts of the Heart Craft Activity for ActivBoard
Every year during the winter my students and I love to make paper quilts. There is so much American history in the topic of quilting. This activity is fun for students of any age as they create quilt blocks from a template. This ActivBoard activity is linked to literature, math and social studies. Common Core Standards for 3rd grade are included along with step by step instructions and examples. Finally there in an interactive page where students can create their own quilt block.

Shading Forms ActiveInspire Flipchart
This is in the ActiveInspire Flipchart format and is meant to demonstrate to the students how to shade each of the five forms (cube, cone, cylinder, sphere and pyramid) in a general way. It breaks down how the light effects everything and discusses the difference between shading a form and not shading a form.

I created this 8 page ActivInspire Flip chart to teach my special needs kinder class about important people who have made a difference. Focusing on Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and Ruby Bridges, students will have the opportunity to learn about each person and how they fought to make a difference. Organic Geometric Shape Sort Flipchart
This is a flipchart that is self correcting and allows students to sort geometric and organic shapes.
