My 7th grade gifted students spend second semester working on their passions every Friday in class. This is often called Genius Hour or the 20% Project. Students have to write a proposal of how they plan to spend the time, blog about the progress, and present all they have accomplished in a "TED Talk" evening at the end of the unit. Included in the packet are the blog posts, timeline, rubrics for the proposal, blog posts, productivity, and final presentation, and a sample proposal.

Homemade Board Game Project

I created this project to encourage my gifted students to utilize game play as a learning tool and as a review tool for difficult concepts. Stop Motion Movie Project
Students use a still camera to take still pictures of an object, move the object, and shoot another picture. Process continues until students have several hundred photos. They then use video editing software (iMovie or Windows Movie Maker) to put the pictures together and play them at a high rate of speed to simulate motion.
