I am a Language Arts and Global Perspectives teacher in my 7th year of teaching. I proudly serve in a high school with a diverse student body: ESL students, third culture students, neurodiverse students, and low-income students. I know that teaching is my calling and I feel honored to serve brilliant young minds with brilliant colleagues in sharing a love of learning.
I believe that learning should challenge and support all learners regardless of background. Learning must be authentic, multimodal, engaging, and rigorous yet scaffolded. The challenge is connecting with the range of student identities, finding the right balance of challenge and support, engaging authentically, all the while meeting specific standards. All products on this store have been tried and tested in the classroom and adapted upon reflection over a range of school years with the above in mind.
My greatest honors are the thank you letters from former students, the mountains they climb, and the things they achieve.
I grew up with dyslexia, but I always loved books! I came from a community where schools were under-funded, but I had my share of passionate teachers! I became a teacher not in spite of those challenges, but because of them! I became the first person in my extended family to get a degree, the first to get a post-grad, and the first to become a teacher. I have had the pleasure to teach the most amazing students both at home and abroad and I wouldn't change it for the world. I am currently studying for my M.Ed, I love learning languages, and I love being involved in creating educational opportunities.
We teachers become teachers because of a passion and a story, but too often we lose the spark to unrealistic expectations, and burdens beyond the classroom. I hope my resources can help you go some way to removing burdensome tasks and creating balance. The best teachers are well rounded and well rested teachers who can keep the flame alive and use it to light student curiosity! Use my plans to exceed expectations, engage learners, and have time for you!
