This word search includes 10 pages, covering the topics of cell, energy, heredity, genetics, classification, plants, animals, evolution, organ systems, and organs. On test days, the students who finish their test early pick up a word search. This has been especially effective in keeping the students quite during test time. Magnetic Objects Picture Sort
This picture sort is a great activity for a Science center, for using on the board as a class, or as an activity for students who finish their work early. You can also copy and paste these pictures and labels into a SmartBoard activity for the class. This also works well as an assessment for students who do not do test well.
Cut out the pictures and laminate them or have the students cut and paste them onto a separate paper for an assessment or activity.

Oreo Experimental Design Challenge
Students use America's favorite cookie to determine if double stuff really do have "double" the stuff.
Materials needed include scales (triple beam or digital), plastic knives, napkins and cookies.
This would be a good assessment for students to ensure that they understand experimental design. It would also make a good review for a final exam at the end of the year, or in preparing for standardized testing.
