Read, Build and Write Hiragana Placemats

I created this resource for one of my Hiragana stations. At this station, I wanted my students to create words using Hiragana blocks and magnets so I created these pages so that students could make words using only the Hiragana they are learning or have previously learned. The words on these tables are aligned with the belts in the 'Hiragana Karate Club' (e.g. White Belt = a-ko, yellow belt= sa-to) so students choose the relevant page, read the word, make the word using blocks, magnets or small

Japanese diagnostic sheet for any year level

Use this sheet to get some valuable information about your students, particularly their hobbies, strengths, background and interests in Japanese. This also gives students a chance to show what they can remember in terms of hiragana and katakana characters, and any grammar or vocabulary that they might have picked up over the years. This can be changed to suit any year level, with my Year 7s I like to give them a square to draw a Japanese picture (instead of the katakana option)...find out there

If you already have the PowerPoint, this work wouldn't be necessary as the questions are the same as the PowerPoint, but in a word document. Like the PowerPoint, complex Japanese grammar related to likes/dislikes/love/hate has been broken down into three different levels of difficulty to cater for students who tend to require more time to process knowledge taught. It is also colour-coded.
