My STAR Test Goals - Student goal setting for standardized tests
This is a fully editable .DOC file that I have used to help my students set goals for their STAR test throughout the school year.
As a bonus, students can practice their measurement & data skills.
I have used this in a whole group setting, making an anchor chart with good test taking practices in order to help students brainstorm for the "two things I will do to reach my goal". I have also used this leading up to their STAR test and post STAR test during individual student conferencing.

STEAM Glider Prototype Engineering Challenge for Upper Elem Gifted and Talented

Mass Measurement Lab
A hands-on measurement lab where random objects are chosen to measure mass using pan balances or triple beam balances and a digital scale. Students will take the first measurement on a balance and then the second on the digital scale. They will then find the difference between the two measurements. The end of the lab questions discuss why there may be a difference between the two measurements. Extension acitivity: choose 5 objects and graph the results.

This worksheet is designed to help students improve their graphing abilities. They will first collect data from their classmates' favorite sports and create a bar graph based on the findings. On the other side, students will also collect data on their classmates' hair color and produce a bar graph.
