This extremely user friendly PowerPoint has animated step-by-step directions on triangle properties, congruence, and proofs. 91 slides with animations allow you to control the pace and amount of content. It is often color-coded, and helps streamline the learning process. This PowerPoint could replace what are typically the fourth and fifth chapters of high school Geometry textbooks or help supplement them (with the exception of extra practice problems). I utilize this PowerPoint in my classroom

Geometry: Introductory Proofs about Angles formed by Transveral

Are you introducing proofs for the first time? Are your students struggling with the concept of a proof? I have found that there are very few remediation worksheets on proofs and sometimes it is necessary to go slow until all students get the hang of proofs. It can be frustrating when the textbooks only include one or two examples. I created this very straightforward study guide for beginner proofs on the the common angles formed by 2 parallel lines cut by a transversal line. This particular s

Geometry- Introduction to Proofs - Basic Proof Practice

Introducing students to geometric proofs in a geometry class can be a difficult task for both teachers and students. I created this introductory lesson to help get my students' brains in gear. After teaching the first few introductory chapters the kids should have some understanding of basic definitions, postulates and theorems. This worksheet will help them "squeeze" as much information as possible from "givens" in formal proofs. Since I started using this paper and other similar worksheets

Surface Area and Volume - a jeopardy style game

Playing a jeopardy style game before a test is usually a very exciting time for my students, they love playing a game right before a test. After a few years of using this practice, it seems that this type of review game also as a bonding experience between classmates. So I’ve come to consider it a classroom building type of material as well.

The ultimate Geometry PowerPoint package has arrived! This group of 10 PowerPoints represents thousands of hours of work spanning four years. I have regularly scoured the internet for resources and can honestly say that nothing I have found approaches the depth, breadth, and professionalism of these PowerPoints. They contain enough conceptual information and practice to realistically replace a Geometry textbook (with some extra practice problems from another source or workbook). If you

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.
