Nonfiction Passage Practice for EOC Reading test
This packet was created to help remediate essential skills to prepare students for success for their end-of-course (11th grade) Reading Test. (I teach in Virginia, and this material was created for use in preparation for SOL testing, but could easily be used for comparable test-prep in other states.)
While I created this mini-lesson specifically for SOL test review, the passage and questions could easily be used for nonfiction reading tests

This file is a one page, front and back, article review using SOAPSTone for AP Lang or AP Lang prep.
Students are asked to analyze an article using rhetorical appeals (ethos, logos, pathos), determine the author's stance, unpack a prompt, and write an introduction paragraph to an essay.
This can be used for an article of the week. For AP Lang, this can be used with an Op Ed, or used to prep students for AP Lang. I have also used it as a study guide for upcoming nonfiction essay prompts.
