What if we focused on why we do what we do when we divide fractions? That's what this video is meant to do. Suitable for kids & adults, it shows you not only how to divide fractions, but what's really going on when we perform the algorithm. Enjoy!
"Kuku" (nine-nine) is a Japanese method of memorizing multiplication tables by using a rhythmic chant. Students in Japan start memorizing their multiplication facts beginning with the 5′s & 2′s because they are easiest to understand, followed by 3′s & 4′s, 6′s & 7′s, 8′s & 9′s, and finally 1′s. Japanese Kuku does not go higher than the 9′s. However, students can easily continue this same rhythmic chant pattern to continue memorizing up to 12×12 or 15x15.
