Help your kiddos who have figurative language goals explain why a joke is funny with this helpful visual! Have your kids find the related words in a joke and its punchline, then brainstorm those words' multiple meanings to find out why the joke is funny! This is best to use with jokes that use a play-on-words, but I've found it helpful to use with idioms and metaphors as well. This is also really good for the kids who get stuck on literal meanings. Once they make a list of the related words' mu

I used this in therapy and I was able to convert the ideas into a way to collect data on this topic. I used Michelle Garcia Winner, Dating for Dummies, and Relationships for Dummies as resources. Visual cue for regular past tense

Visual cue for regular past tense! You can pull this out while working on adding -ed to verbs in the present tense. Great for drill play activities or even as a resource during a contextualized reading intervention. Eventually, you can use the visual aid less and less and children will remember to add -ed on their own (they will have a mental image of the reminder).
