This is a great product that helps students to keep track of their readings. Your download comes with an introduction of how to use this digital notebook. Along with appropriate websites the students can use to research their authors. They also have a chart to keep track of book details by the author of their choice. This is an activity that is used over a span of a month. Our classes also had an author's fair at the end to celebrate all of their research.

In the first few weeks of school, I use these notes to review genres and point of view in my sixth and seventh grade language arts classrooms. There are 13 genres and three pov in the table and students write down the definition for each. Point of view is first, second, and third person (we do an extended lesson on third-person types later in the year). You can pull the answer key on your projector or simply write them on the board. Very nice resource for students to have in their binders or the

This two-sided graphic organizer is a fantastic way for students to track their thinking as they read The Giver, by Lois Lowry. I modeled to my students some examples of how I filled in the boxes (ie. unknown vocabulary, lists of rules, lists of Assignments) and also prompted students to add to their knowledge of the book's central themes on 'Sameness' and 'Release.' The front page is a variety of box shapes and on the back page there are two mind maps around those key words.
