This is a handout I give my students when we are learning about Helen Keller. It is the American Sign Language Alphabet. My students enjoy learning the alphabet in sign. I have them spell with partners. One of their favorite activities is to spell a spelling word to their partner and have them figure out what word they are signing.

This page should be used during the first or second week of ASL as a review/practice activity. Students are asked to get into partners and take turns pointing at letters, words, and numbers. All of the words in the grid should be finger spelled and they are also all lexicalized finger spelled words which makes this more authentic. Vocab words and phrases covered in the first week or two are included under the activity to give students something to look at and practice.
