American Sign Language Alphabet
This is a handout I give my students when we are learning about Helen Keller. It is the American Sign Language Alphabet. My students enjoy learning the alphabet in sign. I have them spell with partners. One of their favorite activities is to spell a spelling word to their partner and have them figure out what word they are signing.

Roll the Dice Review
This game can be used for all language levels to review vocabulary. Directions are written for game to be played with a deck of vocabulary cards (not provided) or a vocabulary list you have created. There are six challenges for students to complete while reviewing vocabulary. The parameters of any language are those features used in the production of it. For example, spoken English has long and short vowels, hard and soft consonants and diphthongs. Here's a free bulletin board idea for your ASL classroom. Establish the norm that students must sign to each other in class (in addition to the teacher). Often students forget simple phrases. This bulletin board assists them as they communicate in ASL. Great scaffold for our struggling students. Print up the google sheets and hand them out to students as well. They can add them to their ASL comp books.

First Week Acivity
This page should be used during the first or second week of ASL as a review/practice activity. Students are asked to get into partners and take turns pointing at letters, words, and numbers. All of the words in the grid should be finger spelled and they are also all lexicalized finger spelled words which makes this more authentic. Vocab words and phrases covered in the first week or two are included under the activity to give students something to look at and practice.

International Sign Language Day - September 23
International Sign Language Day is a day for students to recognize that ASL is indeed another language and learn how to sign their name. In 2020 this day was recognized on September 23rd, but this day was only one day in the week that is internationally recognized. This product has some tasks for the students to attempt, like signing their name to a peer, and also a little information on ASL. The back page is the ASL alphabet.
