Incorporate literacy skills into your social studies classroom through primary sources.
Students preview read, complete a word splash, then read the Mayflower Compact, a primary source document. Then, they will get a translated version and must break it down, line by line, into today's language. Upon completion, students will answer a few thought-provoking questions which require them to revisit the text and will help them gain a deeper understanding of the author's purpose.
