TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught middle school social studies in a diverse suburban district from 1994-2019. In that time, I created and tested countless lessons that are engaging, fun, and educational.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I've always been a visual learner. I think most middle school students are as well, especially in this age of personal electronic devices. Every lesson I create reflects this. Visual hooks engage kids. Music engages kids. Humor engages kids. This is how I taught social studies. I expected every student to give their best effort. In the end, it's not always about having the right answer. It's about analyzing an issue and making an informed decision based on reliable historical evidence.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Five-time recipient of my school district's Superintendent's Award of Excellence. Ranked "Highly Effective" from 2016-Retirement.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.A. - History and Secondary Education - Eastern Michigan University (1994) M.A. - American History - Eastern Michigan University (2000)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In addition to this store, I've written three young adult novels since 2010. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about my books!
