Common Core Close Reading (The High School Annotation Survival Guide)
Close reading a text is an essential skill to teach, especially in a high school English class following a Common Core aligned curriculum. This is a graphic organizer that I use to teach indirect characterization with this short story. Students look for textual evidence, infer character traits, determine how the author reveals the traits, and try to ascertain character motivations.
