Career Day Letter to Volunteers
This is a letter I send asking for volunteers to speak at our "Career Day." It includes a letter to send to every parent to begin with and then one to send later to the parents who do volunteer. There is also a questionnaire for the quest speakers to fill out to prepare them.
Every October we talk about careers and community helpers. On "Career Day" students get to dress up as the career they would choose as an adult.

A business card introduces the type of work you do to other people. It is used to advertise to others what types of goods or services you offer and how to contact you if they would like to hire you. With your future career in mind design a business card that would attract customers and tell others what you do.

Community Helpers Matching
Students in 1st grade draw a line to connect the community helper to their common tools. The community helpers included are a farmer, police officer, nurse, doctor, mail carrier, firefighter, chef, and a construction worker. Encourage students to connect multiple community helpers to each tool, because some overlap one another.
