Independent Living - What Would You Do?
This is a small unit I put together on independent living. You can do the lesson from the list, or print and cut the cards.
In our morning groups, 2x a week, we do 5 cards (5 min on each card). I tell the kids to imagine they living in their own apartment or house (depending on the card). We first decide if it is an emergency or not then brainstorm what they would do. This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area.
I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.

WORKING MEMORY - Executive Functioning Practice!!
GREAT activity for working memory practice! Students/Adults view the images on the left for 3-5 slow seconds. Then the covered shape is moved completely to the left to reveal pictures on the right hand side.
