Redundancy Introduction "Parked out by the Lake"

Why “this” activity?I recently noticed in my 7th & 8th graders summary writing, they struggle to recognize and eliminate redundant phrases. The song “Parked Out By The Lake” played on my favorite morning show, and I knew this would be how my kids could discuss redundancy

Parts of speech military march

This is a fun way to start off my "parts of speech boot camp," where I reteach and review the eight parts of speech. In the style of a call-and-response, the teacher/drill sargeant says a line and the students repeat it while marching around the classroom or school. It not only helps them remember the parts of speech, but also employs movement (which is vital to young learners).
