Convicts Assembly Play
This is a 20-minute play based on Perth’s convict history. My class performed this for an assembly and the parents absolutely loved it (as did the children). There are 16 speaking parts and the extras are convicts.
This assembly is perfect for the Year 5 Australian History Curriculum, however, could easily be adapted for other year groups.

A reader's theatre based on a true love story that happened between an English convict with an aristocrat background and an Australian indigenous girl in the 1800s. This was in a time when Australia, in particularly New South Wales was being settled by the white Europeans. There was a conflict of interest between the settlers and the peoples who had lived in the land for a very long time. This makes this story even more incredible.
