The package includes the full score as well as a separate, reproducible vocal part. This wonderful poem by Robert Frost describes the feeling of pausing deep in the woods, on a dark and snowy winter night. We experience a sense of peacefulness in the solitude there but we cannot linger long as there is still much to do and a long way to go before we can rest. This song was written to allow the lyrics to flow naturally without confining them in strict rhythms; performers are encouraged to interpret

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh! by Mo Willem

Here's a fun book and song for your kids! I purposely made the instrumentation sound a bit like Jingle Bells. There is only one measure where they change, and they will need to practice that, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Remember to add a Hey! at the end on beat four!

After the holidays--TRASHING THROUGH THE SNOW, a fun poem/song

TRASHING THROUGH THE SNOW is a fun poem that can be sung to the tune of Jingle Bells. It looks at the past holiday through the eyes of a garbage man, who looks at all the waste and wishes people knew "that things don't bring you happiness but times together do."

Story of Ferdinand: Stories with Music for Valentine's Day

The story of Ferdinand shares a message of peace and contentment. Children are delighted to create the music for Ferdinand and the other bulls; this requires two very different styles! The lesson introduces terms and symbols for piano, forte and crescendo, as well as suggested sound effects and a song with easy Orff accompaniment.Source: Story book by Muno Leaf. Squeak, Rumble, Whomp, Whomp, Whomp by Wynton Marsalis

This is a fun one! I did not add percussion instruments because each of us has different instruments in our classroom. I would add something that "squeaks" when we sing "Squeak" and something that "rumbles" when we sing "Rumble" and some kind of drum for Whomp, Whomp, Whomp. I would use a Tick Tock for that "Tick, Tock" and maybe a clave or woodblock for "Clack" and a bass drum for "Boom Boom". You can obviously add other instruments as well. Have fun with it.

The children in this school are sick and tired of the teachers’ boring lessons. The teachers are fed up with bored children who don’t listen to them. Everyone is happy when the school year finishes and summer holidays begin. Everyone, that is, except the school principal who is rather unceremoniously replaced. The new school year begins with a new school principal, Mr Wrathmore. The teachers are summoned to a staff meeting only to find that they are to be replaced by substitutes and imprisoned

Iza Trapani's "Twinkle Twinkle" accompaniment MP3

I LOVE Iza Trapani's books and, as a music teacher, I love to sing them to the class so I have created this MPS file to do just that. This recording was built to support her "Twinkle Twinkle" book and all the extra verses. The music is from Mozart "Variations on 'Ah vous dirai-je Maman'" a public domain work that I have chopped up and rearranged to fit the book exactly. There are several places where there is no text and my accompaniment allows for that. You will find this the perfect springbo

This musical program is designed to help students understand the function of an author. It's great for all teachers. You get the audio too! Each song breaks down P.I.E. Persuasion, Information, Entertainment and Explanation. My second grade team asked if I could write a show about this because their students were struggling in this area. Audio file download information is available at the end of the document upon purchase.

Another great book by Anexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman. I added Orff instruments, but you can add any small percussion that you like, so you can get more students playing instruments.

The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales

The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszka and Lane SmithVery funny book. I can't take credit for the song. It was written by a bunch of music teachers at a teacher workshop. Choose children to pick out instruments to represent the main characters - whatever instrument they choose that they think will sound like that character. The Stinky Cheese man, the old man, the old woman, the cow, the children, the wolf, the olive, and so on. As you read the story, they must li

In this simple music activity, students learn how to use poetry to create a new musical composition. This is an excellent activity for the music or language arts/literature classroom. Includes an additional composition exercise and sample flashcards to cut out. It is not necessary that students or the instructor understand music to be able to teach this exercise. Instead, students are encourage to sing and use their ears to discuss the poetry in a musical way. Advanced students can write down

A new Pig the Pug book just in time for Halloween! I've added xylophones and glockenspiel. Add some non-pitched percussion to it, such as shaker eggs, guiro, vibraslap. Anything for a spooky and silly sound, because we all know Pig is a silly guy! Also, yell Boo! at the very end.

This is a wonderful poem to use for tone color and dramatization. If you are adventurous have students add instruments to create sound effects for the performance. Great small/large-group activity.
