The purpose of this science lab is to teach the three types of heat transfer (conduction, radiation, and convection). In this lab, we make popcorn to demonstrate these different types of heat transfer. For conduction, we use a pan. For radiation, we

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for 5 years at at junior high. I have taught both 7th and 8th grade science. I have also had experience tutoring children from ages 8-18 in math and science and have a degree in Chemistry/Physics Education from Utah Valley University. Recently I have been running a preschool from my home and am falling in love with Pre-K curriculum. Who knew teaching letters could be so fun? Also I can't help but add some science into my preschool curriculum.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy making science a fun thing for my students. I often have my students working in groups and collaborating. I feel that students learn best when I can get them doing something instead of listening to me talk. For this reason, I have created several science labs to teach a subject. It helps them remember specific material needed for tests, but more importantly they learn how to think critically and ask meaningful questions. I also love implementing technology into the classroom. I have developed activities using ipads, promethean boards, flip cameras, and other forms of technology. Lastly, I enjoy having the kids create. Whether it is a poster, model, or video. I love getting my kids to the stage where they can take the information given to them and create something. It shows such a higher understanding of the material and you get to see their creative sides.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Spending time with my family is what I love to do most. If I am not with family I enjoy baking, doing fun science experiments, and playing tennis or basketball. When I get the chance, I love going new places and going out to eat. There is nothing like getting a delicious meal and not having to clean up afterwards.
