TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a Secondary English teacher since 2015. During this time, I've taught 9-12th, and all ability levels including ELD, College Prep, and Honors, as well as electives such as Creative Writing. In addition to teaching at the secondary level, I've also taught college-level first-year composition courses to incoming freshmen at our local university, California State University San Marcos.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in supporting teachers. To me, this means giving teachers the tools they need to empower their students to take control of their own education and learning. Empowering students creates a more engaging classroom environment for students and prepares them with the skills they need for success. But even more importantly, empowering students to be independent unburdens teachers - so we can stop "putting out fires" and start focusing on the true work of teaching: building relationships with students and designing engaging curriculum and meaningful learning experiences for our classrooms.
